Chicken Gumbo

(Using Gourmet Mom’s Bayou Creole Sauce as Gumbo base)

There is so much versatility to Gourmet Mom’s Bayou Creole Sauce!!  One of which is transforming it into a delicious Chicken and Sausage Gumbo!  Here’s how to do it:

Slice Smoked Country Pork Sausage links into ¼ inch disks.  Brown them in 1 TBS olive oil. Drain and set aside.
In same skillet, heat 2 TBS olive oil. Season boneless, skinless chicken breast with salt and pepper.  Brown chicken, 4 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Set aside.

In large stock pot, bring the Bayou Creole Sauce to medium heat.  Add 1 pkg. fresh or frozen Okra, 1 can whole Kernal corn.  Add 3 TBS File’ gumbo seasoning.  Stir frequently.

Add the sausage and chicken to the Creole Sauce mixture. Allow these flavors to fuse together for 20 to 30 minutes, stirring frequently.

Viola’!!  You have delicious, healthy chicken and sausage gumbo that is easy to prepare.

Traditionally, Gumbo is served with white rice, but you may use brown rice, dirty rice or my personal favorite…Jasmine Rice!

There are so many different types of rice in the marketplace.  Try something new and let us know how you like it!   We love your new ideas!

Suggestion:  You may also add your choice of seafood to this Gumbo. Shrimp, Scallops or Oysters are a great addition!
